Graig Markel’s new self-titled album is a collection of haunted soul ballads, blending southern soul, country, and folk together with acoustic guitars, soft vocals, and layers of lap steel, piano, and ukelele.  Recorded entirely on a vintage analog tape deck, the goal was to make a humble and organic album in the vein of Bruce Springsteen’s “Nebraska”, Nick Drake’s “Pink Moon”, Neil Young’s “Harvest”, and Sun Kil Moon’s “Ghost of the Great Highway”.
